memoir — by saurabh
I started out as a quiet kid who found comfort in drawing, craft, and creating things out of whatever I could find around me. Back then, you would probably spot me sketching cars at the back of my notebooks.
When I joined design school, I spent time exploring, experimenting, and learning without fear. I started doing design intern roles in the second year, and by the time I graduated, I had been lucky to work with a few startups, and agencies.
My first deep step into product design was at Fyle, where I began as an intern and later joined full time while finishing my design degree. At Fyle, I was fortunate to work with a seasoned design team and mentors who pushed me to think sharper, build with systems, and pay attention to the smallest details. There, I contributed to both web and mobile products and helped shape their design system.
After Fyle, I joined Gratitude as the sole Product Designer. I was drawn to it because of what it stood for; making gratitude as a way of life. Over the next three years, I went from working on small weekly tasks to leading the product roadmap. I collaborated closely with developers, designed across Android and Apple platforms, spoke with users, managed projects, and handled everything from subtle refinements to complete redesigns.
Gratitude became my biggest learning ground, not just about design, but about empathy, ownership, and building things that genuinely made a difference in people’s lives.
In 2025, after a good stretch of balancing work and personal responsibilities, I took a small break. That space gave me clarity and a chance to create something of my own, while reconnecting with things I had missed, like reading.
During this time, I started working on sunbeam, a comfort journaling app I made with my friend Aarushi. We launched it on the App Store in August 2025. sunbeam reminded me why I fell in love with design in the first place; the joy of creating something that can make a small difference in someone’s day.
Beyond making things, I love books, photography, art, music, cinema/tv, sunflowers and the quiet company of cats and clouds.
Looking back, every step has been a mix of curiosity, learning, and taking a chance. I do not know where this path will lead next, but I am grateful to be walking it.
Still making. Still learning. 🌻
