gratitude
overview
In July 2023, before the launch of watchOS 10, Gratitude was invited to be part of a small, two-day workshop hosted by Apple on watchOS 10 and interactive widgets.
Until that point, Gratitude’s watch app existed only in a very basic form, almost invisible in our overall experience. As the Product Designer at Gratitude, I was fortunate to join this workshop and learn directly from Apple’s design and technical evangelists about how to craft meaningful experiences for the wrist.
Over those two days, I explored what Gratitude could feel like on watchOS for the very first time.
Through brainstorming sessions, quick iterations, and detailed reviews with Apple’s team, we began shaping the foundation of what would become Gratitude’s first watchOS app.
The goal was clear from the start: keep it simple, glanceable, and relevant. An experience that brings Gratitude closer to everyday life of our users.

gratitude in the Smart Stack
The Smart Stack is a new feature in watchOS 10 that lets users quickly see important information from their favorite apps by simply turning the Digital Crown.
For Gratitude, this means users can now view gentle reminders, affirmations, or moments of reflection right from their watch face.
The Smart Stack shows these updates contextually throughout the day, keeping Gratitude just a glance away on the watch.

end notes
What began as a small two-day workshop with Apple in 2023 became the foundation for building Gratitude’s first watchOS app during the App Excellence Program.
This was the first version of how we imagined Gratitude on the wrist; a small but meaningful step toward bringing reflection and mindfulness closer to everyday life, with many possibilities still ahead.
A heartfelt thank you to Apple’s Design and Technology Evangelists for their constant guidance, encouragement, and support throughout this journey.
